Hey sis! I hope that your 2019 has been the best year of your life so far and I hope it only gets better. The best year of our lives for many of us may include finally starting up that business that you’ve been wanting to start for a while. In today’s world 30% percent of America’s workforce is engaged in the “gig” economy. Gigs are one-time jobs that a person gets paid for as an independent contractor. These days no matter what you like to do in your free time, you can turn it into a side hustle. So in honor of national become A millionaire day, I thought I would come with 3 side hustles that I have tried, to help you get started on your journey.
Become a freelancer
There are many different platforms these days that hire freelancers, there isn’t a reason you couldn’t get involved yourself. I have been a freelance writer for some years now. In the beginning I wrote just for fun, as I honed my skills. These days I write exclusively for pay (unless it’s my own blog) and I can set and negotiate my own prices and hours. You definitely want a portfolio to help you get started, so I recommend either volunteering to write for someone’s website, or starting your own blog and creating content there first. Once you have really practiced your skill you can write for higher paying clients, and even author your own books.
Participate in sharing economy
This is by far the easiest way to get started. Whether it’s renting your apartment as an AirBnB while you’re out of town, or driving for Uber and Lyft, the Sharing economy is where it’s at. Not only is it relatively easy to get started, Lyft will even give you a car if you need one! Personally, this was my least favorite because I am not a fan of driving. It is however the quickest of my three alternatives to bring in income as it doesn’t necessarily have to be “built”. You can start earning money the day that you get set up, but don’t be fooled, you’ll have to put some hours in to make some real cash.
Start a small business
Now on to my favorite one. So not only am I a freelance writer, I also have a business where I supply CFO services to other businesses. I started out by doing taxes on the side a couple years back and it just blossomed from there. Any small business can start out being something you enjoy doing on the side. The key is to stay open for opportunities and to reinvest earned money back into your business. After a while it will just keep growing and who knows where you can end up?
So those are the 3 ways that I have side hustled to help me get to this point. There are so many different ways that you can earn money in today’s economy, that I recommend trying out as many of them as possible. Leave a comment below if you have tried any of these yourself, or if you tried a different method as well!.
And don’t forget, Live your best life sis!
