The vegan diet is very similar to the vegetarian diet which cuts out eating meat. The difference, however, is that the vegan diet completely eliminates animal products from the person’s consumption. Here are some pros and cons for the vegan diet to help you decide what is best for:

Pros

Potentially Improved Health Because the vegan diet completely eliminates animal products from consumption, this diet is cholesterol free and low in saturated fat. This could lead to lower cholesterol as well as lower blood pressure.

Increased Self-Control This diet definitely promotes self-control. Having to look at ingredients or ask questions about how things are cooked, completely giving up certain foods, and so much more all take extreme self-control. This diet helps increase that self-control.

Cons

Abrupt Change With absolutely no animal products, this can be too difficult of a change for some. This means no eggs, cheese, milk or other animal products.

Less Available Options When you follow a vegan diet it can be very difficult going out to eat and finding many vegan options. In many of our homes, during special occasions, vegan dishes are the last things families of color generally serve.
