YOGA IS MORE THAN AN ACTIVITY, IT’S A MINDSET

Yoga is great for the body and flexibility; but, yoga is actually a state of mind and way of life. In your most difficult of times, in your happiest of times, the yoga mindset can bring you through the thickest of fogs and into the most joyful of times. We are so quick to go to the doctor for a pill to fix our issues like depression, insomnia, and anxiety.  The issue isn’t the lack of the pill; this issue is inside of us.  The emotions you can’t quiet, the sadness you can’t escape… it’s a path you can take charge of by processing, dealing with it, and finding the strength to move on. One of the best ways to do that is with yoga....

EATING FOR YOUR BLOOD TYPE AIDS IN WEIGHT LOSS

Let’s talk about food. The simplest and most overlooked approach to a healthier you with regards to food is to eat fewer packaged foods. Packaged foods more often than not, contain numerous preservatives, salt and sugar that slow our metabolism and increase our toxicity. In fact, when possible eat organically especially when it comes to beef and poultry. I know this can get expensive but I do believe the fuel you put in your body should be as clean as possible for optimal effectiveness. In my clinic, I also recommend a system of eating that I have personally found to be effective, the Eat For Your Blood Type Diet proposed by Dr. D'Amano, a Naturopathic physician. Through research Dr. D’Amano found that the foods we eat...

TIPS TO HELP YOU START SAVING

It doesn’t matter how much money you make, you will always appreciate having money in the time of need. In order to save you have to have a budget! Once you know how much you plan to spend a month try to stay in the parameters of the goal. One of the best ways to save is not to have easy access to the money! It just works out best when you kinda forget it’s there. Talk to your banking representative about automatic transfers and setting up accounts that don’t make it so accessible for you to withdraw from. For Instance, Virtual banks have become popular for that reason. Talk to your local Insurance agent about life Insurance policies that build value or annuities that accrue...

EVERYONE NEEDS SOMEONE TO GET AHEAD!

In the spirit of Transformation Tuesday, this week I want to encourage you to find a mentor. I can't begin to tell you how much my mentor has sewn into not only my life but also my business. She and I can discuss just about any and everything: Christ, college, traveling, work, our passion projects, food, music, you name it we've talked about it! More important than us being able to talk about anything, she challenges me, she leads me, encourages me and helps me to stay grounded. If you haven't been seeing progress in your life try finding a mentor. Read more on my mentor here:  http://wp.me/p5aXzi-a0 You can contact Karlise Cureton via email for booking at damselnodistress@gmail.com #Transformationtuesdays...

SOME TIMES “IT IS” ALL ABOUT YOU!

So as a health blogger I’m supposed to tell you about how amazing I am all the time, right?  Well… this passed few weeks stress and some emotional things have me seriously bugged out. You know, the consuming thoughts, poor concentration and cry worthy stuff?  BUT!  On my hardest day, I found something that lit the tunnel so I could see the end. I heard a great podcast on “The Yogahealer Real Life Show”.  She suggested a simple, gifting-yourself-exercise, unique enough to bring my shoulders down and allow a smile to replace my resting-stressed-face.  She suggested speaking out loud: The reasons your family loves you The reasons your besties call you bestie The reasons you found the career you loved The reasons you love your body All that...

TAKE A CHANCE AT FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS!

You know what's really liberating? Knowing that you can fail at something you don't love so you may as well take a shot at something you love! Do you have a dream? A goal?  But you haven't had the courage to try? Whatever is keeping you from reaching your goal it can't be worse than never trying. You can't fail until you try and even playing it safe (not trying at all) won't protect you from failing. If you want to change your life, take a chance at following your dreams!  You can contact Karlise Cureton via email for booking at damselnodistress@gmail.com #Transformationtuesdays ...

FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL!

People who keep track of their goals and/or to do list are said to be the most productive & fulfilled. For This #NoDistressSunday, fix yourself a cup of sunshine (Warm water + juice of 1/4 a lemon) and write a list of mini goals you want to accomplish this week. You can simply start with "write this week’s goals list." This way you have not only begun on the right foot, but you have something you can cross off the list as “mission accomplished”! “He who fails to plan is planning to fail" …Winston Churchill #NoDistressSunday #Goals2016  #Stressfreesundays...

SEX: THE GOOD VS. THE BAD

There are benefits to “healthy sex,” which includes stress relief, increase in levels of the good hormones, and calorie burning, to name a few. UN-healthy sex, however, cannot only cause extensive emotional trauma and scars, but can lead to devastating emotional tornados and changes to your body.  UN-healthy sex can cause a depression like state, poor self esteem, decreased sex drive, extreme fatigue, insomnia (sleeplessness), strange dreams, abuse, energy blockages, and more. THE GOOD STUFF Marriage Mutual and consenting Self-LESS-ness Everything is agreed upon (FWB, exclusivity, “no go” things, privacy, safe words, etc.) Full honesty and disclosure with any concerns or emotions THE BAD STUFF Partner (s) are too young or immature in mindset NOT on mutual terms (emotional, spiritual, etc.)  With a partner you constantly argue or disagree with Spiteful or cheating Using sex to “keep” someone in your...
