Slay 2019 with a Financial Fresh Start | Financial Health

How many times have you gotten to the end of the year, and felt like you didn’t quite accomplish the things you wanted to? I have, and as you probably already know it’s not a good feeling. One of the main reasons I’ve noticed is that they are creating all kinds of large goals for the new year and struggling to keep them. (If this is you, check our our post here on goal setting VS adopting a system). However, there is an even bigger problem that no one is talking about. Most people are not making any financial goals, and if they are, they’re not making them in a way that’s improving their day to day lives.

So you might be wondering “Isn’t this a health site? Why is she talking about money?”. Excellent questions sis! Money happens to be a huge factor in health. “Poor” people, especially women, are at a higher risk for certain disease factors than other women (check out these staggering statistics here). I mean think about it, your finances determine what and how often you eat, if you can go to a gym or have to workout at home, and if you even have a home that has enough space to do a workout in! That’s why in 2019 we are getting our lives together with a little Finance 101.

I will be doing a mini series to get a deeper dive into all of all of the subjects, and some other fun things to get us into financial shape. For today though, I’m going to tell you why it’s important and the top 3 things you need to do right now to be prepared.

Why Is this important? Especially if I make a good salary, or I don’t have enough to even save?

It is very important sis and I’ll tell you why with a saying that my mom and dad used to say all the time. “You can make all the money in the world on your salary, and still be one paycheck away from being homeless.” Thats deep, and you may not even know if you’re in that position, especially if you are just looking at your salary.

So how can I improve my situation?

Wow sis, you’re full of great questions today! So we will go step by step on how we can get everything together for you. First, I will tell you that I have a degree in Finance so I am qualified to provide you with this information. We are going to do a deep dive over the next few months in my new Reinvent your life series. so we will be improving many aspects in our lives and finances is the first stop. We will be exploring accurate budgeting tips, side hustle tips and money saving tips through the first quarter of 2019. For today start by writing all of your bills and income in one place and they days they are due. (If you’re a gook like me you can use an excel spreadsheet.) have this ready for the beginning of the year
