Almost everyone I know has a health goal of some sort, but has never reached at least one of them at the beginning of the year. I’m guilty of this. I set an abundance of goals and the more time passes, the easier that the goal becomes a faint memory. Here are a few reasons why you probably aren’t reaching your health and wellness goals.
Stop making excuses! Best selling author Robin Sharma said “the excuses we make destroy the results we deserve.” How many times have you made an excuse and those few words stopped you from doing something you really needed to do? Excuses don’t do anything except hinder you. They are roadblocks in your path to success. Don’t make them a habit.
I am so guilty of this! I’ll workout and eat healthy and then get upset because I’m not at my goal in two weeks. You can not rush the process of achieving great health. Instead of focusing of the end result like the number on the scale, can destroy your potential success. Goals are amazing things to want to achieve but sometimes the journey deserves a little spotlight. Do not worry so much about the end result that you ruin your journey and never get to your goal.
Insecure Wants and Desires!
This is a big struggle in a lot of people. Sometimes you think you need to lose or gain weight to feel happy or beautiful and set out to do it. Then you start to feel more comfortable in who you are and how you look and determine that you don’t need to change. This back and forth is very often the direct result of allowing the likes and preferences of others to dictate how you choose to view yourself. Take a look at yourself and determine what you want without anyone else’s opinion ringing in your head. Secure your wants and desires to reach your health goals!
Lack of Knowledge!
Simply not knowing deters many people from being able to reach their goals. In order to successfully and healthily get to certain points, a little research can go a long way. Asking questions, talking to your physician and researching information can help you reach a goal faster because you’ll be on a more direct path to it.
When people set goals for themselves they often set ones that were set for a specific person. For example, I could set the goal that I want to have Beyonce’s body and not take into account that everybody’s body is different. I could follow her dietary and workout plan and end up with completely different results than she did. With that said, Stop expecting to achieve what others have and start expecting to achieve goals solely made for you. Then get it done!
