The holidays are a time for joy and cheer, but with this season comes stress. The Holiday Shopping to cooking. Cleaning the house for family and friends. It seems like there are so many things to do but so little time.
During this season, women especially take on a lot of responsibility. Yes, women are amazing, but we must remember we are not superheroes and sometimes it is okay to acknowledge how you feel. Remember: Your feelings are valid. So, if you need to take a break from holiday shopping and cooking, it is okay – do so. We are only human so as much as we love to think we have enough energy like the Energizer Bunny, we do not, and our bodies need rest to recharge. Whether it is taking a nap, a walk, or taking time to stop and listen to your favorite Christmas song, allow yourself the time to take a break.
Secondly, it is important to have a plan. Our minds can get overwhelmed thinking of everything we have to do and that can lead to forgetting a very important gift which only leads to more stress. To avoid such a crisis, take a few minutes and plan out your holidays and the events leading up to it. That way, when the big days come around, you have already been planning ahead.
Finally, find your needed balance. Holidays bring family and friends and sometimes not all pieces to our family puzzle’s get along and that is okay. Find the balance between taking time for yourself and self-care, but not letting it leads to isolation. Relationships and community are important. So, take the time to give yourself the opportunity to create those lasting memories and LAUGH!
