JASMIN ALEXANDER PROVES PEOPLE WRONG ABOUT THE STEROTYPICAL PAGEANT GIRL

JASMIN ALEXANDER PROVES PEOPLE WRONG ABOUT THE STEROTYPICAL PAGEANT GIRL

I love performing and being under the lights. It’s fascinating to meet new people and have a reason to dress up. It’s almost my guilty pleasure. I also like to prove people wrong about the stereotypical pageant girl; I’ve never been her and it surprises people when I meet them and they realize I’m part of pageants.

JASMIN WITH CROWN

Normally the typical pageant girl is what you would call a girly girl; this girl lives for the spotlight and can be known as a crown chaser. In other words, they will do anything to get the crown. They don’t necessarily like getting their hands dirty and they have to be dolled up 24/7. That’s not me at all. Yes, I love dressing up and my face beat to the gawds like any other woman, however there is a time and a place for everything. I don’t mind getting dirty with the best of them and I like to be independent and handle things on my own. My body type definitely isn’t that of a pageant girl. I have curves for days and I love that about myself. I embrace the skin I’m in and love that I can still compete with the best.

Overall, I’m honored to represent Miss Black USA in a way that’s not stereotypical. It’s interesting when I tell people, because they give me a shocked look and say I didn’t even know that existed. But after I explain the organization, I’m congratulated. It’s important to note that I own who I am and all that I’ve accomplished thus far in my life.
