How This Diet Helped Tia Mowry Lose 20 lbs

Early Spring of 2016, Tia Mowry–mother, wife, actress, and entrepreneur–was 20 lbs heavier  and found herself getting body shamed by social media. But it wasn’t the name calling and social trolling that inspired her to take control of her body, transform her diet, and lose weight. It was a new approach to healing from an endometriosis diagnosis years earlier.

After undergoing surgery twice and taking various medications to ease her pain, Tia turned her attention to the foods she was eating. By making some significant changes, she was able to relieve her symptoms, lose a ton of weight, increase her energy, and improve her overall wellness. Ready to do the same?

Get Tia’s Diet

Whole Foods – If you didn’t know, Tia is the author of Whole New You, a cookbook that features gluten and dairy free recipes that follows Tia’s diet. By keeping processed foods and sugar out  and including mainly  fruits, vegetables, and whole grains instead, she has not only been able to ease her symptoms but drop pounds in the process.

Fermented Foods – Tia’s diet is packed with fermented foods like kimchi, miso, and sauerkraut. Fermented foods have undergone a process which stimulates good bacteria in the food and creates nutrients that your body thrives off of like probiotics, omega 3 fatty acids, and b-vitamins. Not only do these kinds of foods help with her endometriosis symptoms, but they also are great for digestion issues and promoting good gut health as well.

Lots of Smoothies – If there is one “secret weapon” to Tia’s diet it’s smoothies. They’re quick, easy, and allow you to pack a ton fruits and vegetables into your daily diet. Some of her favorite smoothie ingredients include kale, avocado, and almond milk. If you’re really trying to get your diet in check, follow Tia’s lead and have at least one smoothie a day.
