How to Find Your Daily Motivation

At some point in life, everyone comes to a place where they struggle with their motivation; Especially after a failure or setback in your personal or professional life. Even the most successful have had a tussle or two with maintaining their motivation. Ever wonder how those individuals who are wildly successful, keep their drive after experiencing failure? Well here is a guide for 8 ways to find and keep your motivation.

What’s your why?

Highly successful and motivated individuals ALWAYS start with their why. Your why is going to be the backbone of your success. So what is your why? What is your purpose for doing what you do? This answer alone will be your drive and give you that ambition you need!

Knowing your limits

You must self-evaluate and ask yourself what’s holding you back. What skills have you not acquired yet, to get you to where you need to be? Let that give you the motivation you need to gain those skills and surpass that barrier.

The Hacker Way

As stated by Mark Zuckerberg “The Hacker Way is an approach to building, that involves continuous improvement and iteration.” Doing things the hacker way means that you don’t try to get everything done at once, and it doesn’t have to be perfect. Don’t take on too much and fail, rather, take on little by little and succeed and eventually you will have reached your goal. “Done is better than perfect” as painted on the walls of the Facebook headquarters.

Focus on the bigger picture

The bigger picture is what you must focus on, on those days when your sad, frustrated, or bored with the repetitive task that surrounds your day. Keep sight of your goals and let that motivate you to get it done.


Do you think people who are successful, surround themselves with people who are negative or constantly criticizing their every move? NO! So why would you? Keep people in your life who are supportive and who want to see you on top of the world. Little things matter too. Instead of sad R&B songs, play uplifting pop music. Hang vision boards around your workplace and home that will keep your goals in mind and give you that drive that you need to achieve them.


3 simple words will be all the advice you need. FIND.YOUR.PASSION. Once you find your passion, you will have gained all you needed to be successful. That passion will create a fire in you that will help you to persevere through all obstacles, barriers, and setbacks.  That passion will give you the confidence you need to know that you can do this. So find it and work like a black girl should.

Move quickly

Act with a sense of urgency. The procrastination must stop. As stated by Jim Rohm, “Without a sense of urgency, desire loses its value.” Don’t move to slow and get run over. Time waits for no one, so get out there and get going. Start finding investors for that business you want to open, apply to school for that degree you need for that dream job, go after that opportunity of a lifetime. It’s time to move your feet with faith, instead of standing still in fear of failure. So I challenge you to do one thing this week to get you on the path of achieving your goal.

Take care of yourself

Take care of yourself in the process. Exercise, eat right, and maintain good mental health. All these things are essential to having your motivation take you places. Stay optimistic, organized and don’t forget to prioritize.
