Sometimes, fibroids can be found on a gynecological appointment during your yearly pap smear exam where the uterus is felt by the practitioner both internally and externally at the same time. The uterus might feel larger or a irregularly shape. Small fibroids, which cannot be felt can be found during an ultrasound (sound wave picture).
