You're driving, rushing through traffic on your way to work and it hits you. Today is your 10th work day in a row, you have class tonight until 10pm, you have to be up at 6am tomorrow, you can't remember the last time you had time to cook, and all you can think of is how great your bed would feel right now...

THE BEST HAIR PRODUCTS ARE RIGHT IN YOUR KITCHEN

It seems like everyday there’s some new product out that’s supposed to make your hair do this, make it do that, but I know my mama (hey Mama Lo!) didn’t have these products growing up and she had a fro' so thick and luscious that even Angela Davis may have been a little jealous. So I asked what was Mama’s secret, what was used back then that, today we aren't? She told me "Ashia we were poor, black, and had hair for days...

MISS BLACK USA JASMIN ALEXANDERS’ BEAUTY QUEEN REGIMEN

My mom always taught me the importance of cleansing your face, using a toner, and applying a moisturizer. Of course I thought I was invincible when I was younger, so I didn’t listen to my mother’s advice about taking care of my skin now. But in the past year, I’ve made it a priority to always cleanse my face after wearing make up, using a toner, and moisturizing. The difference in my skin and the feel of it was almost immediate. I think every female should adapt some kind of skin care regimen they do every morning. So now let’s talk hair. Living in Colorado Springs is an entirely different beast. It’s very dry here so, I had to switch up my natural hair care and beauty...

THE BEST WAY TO BLEND YOUR MAKEUP

Beauty blender is a non disposable sponge applicator used to flawlessly apply your makeup. For sensitive, easily irritated skin or skin with active inflammation due to blemishes or Rosacea, the beauty blender is wonderful because it’s so gentle and non-abrasive. HOW TO -- USE A BEAUTY BLENDER SPONGE: Wet your beauty blender and squeeze out the excess moisture. You want the sponge to be barely damp when you're using it. Apply your foundation to the back of your hand or a flat surface and dip the rounded end of the Beauty blender into it. Begin to apply your foundation by stippling or bouncing the Beauty blender all over your face. No need to press into the skin too hard; the beauty blender sponge will do most of the work...

5 HAIR GROWTH TIPS TO LIVE BY

Moisturize hair daily to reduce dryness, brittleness and breakage! In general, as women of color, our hair is usually dry due to lower sebaceous (oil) gland secretions. As the temperatures become cooler and less humid, your hair becomes even more dry. Apply a daily moisturizer (oil sheen, lotion, etc) to your hair, especially the ends which are more prone to splitting and breakage from dryness. One of my favorites for dry hair is simply basic olive oil, which can be used daily or applied heavily with a plastic cap the night before shampooing. Shampoo hair at least once a week even when it is colder! Contrary to popular belief, we should wash our hair at least once a week followed by a moisturizing conditioner, regardless of the changing...
