HOW TO HEAL FROM THE PAIN OF LONELINESS

For years I struggled with loneliness. I had difficulty finding my self -worth. My confidence was low and I felt as if I didn't recognize the girl in the mirror. My mentor gave me homework. He told me to follow a similar version of the following 5 steps to begin and stay on the path of awareness and acceptance. Stretch out all the kinks in your muscles so that you're able to sit for the next 15-20 minutes Sit in front of a mirror, lighting well enough to see your eyes Close your eyes tightly and take 10 deep breathes to calm and center yourself, getting rid of all distracting thoughts Open your eyes and stare into them and speak the following ALOUD...

DIY MAKE-UP SETTING SPRAY!

Getting your make up to look flawless for the entire day is probably every girl’s dream. I swear I look my best, but by the end of the work day, after being in the hot sun, my face looks like it’s been through someone’s washing machine. My skin tends to more oily during the summer months, so that also effects the life of my makeup once applied. However, I have recently found that make-up setting spray has helped fix these makeup woes; I have makeup artist Stacey Washington to thank for that! I typically use makeup spray after I finish with my makeover. The spray even helps my foundation look less cakey and more natural. Now that you know the importance of a make-up spray, let’s...

HOW TO REMOVE NAIL POLISH THAT JUST DOESN’T WANT TO COME OFF!

When getting a manicure, did you ever notice the amount of paint that is coated on each finger?  Typically, there are four coatings; starting off with a base coat, followed by two coats of polish (clients choice), and then is finished off with a top coat.  With all these layers of polish, transitioning from one color to another can be quite the struggle. It can be very tedious and become annoying to deal with.  With that being said, here is a tip on how to remove nail polish: First, take a few pieces of cotton and saturate each piece with acetone polish remover.  After the polish remover is applied, lay the saturated piece upon each nail and allow it to sit for about 30-60 seconds.  Once that...

HOW TO DEAL WITH EXAM STRESS

Studying for a big exam can be stressful. It can affect your performance in school, in the work place, and throughout your daily lives. I personally like to avoid late night studying, which for me causes stress. Instead I try to start studying at least two weeks before a big exam and just do a little bit at a time. I’ve noticed that crashing the day before a big test, makes me more anxious and forgetful. However, studying a section of the material at a time, helps me to retain the information. Therefore even after the exam is over, I still remember what I’ve learned. Not to mention, stress could have some lingering health effects, such as trouble sleeping, forgetfulness, poor appetite, unexplained aches and pains...

EXERCISE OF THE WEEK: “ONE LEG SQUATS”

Time to isolate those legs and make them work a bit harder.  Here's a great exercise to try. To set up grab a bench or a chair and squat away! Begin by engaging your core, hold one leg out in front of you, and slowly sit down.  Once seated use both legs to stand back up.  The advanced version is the same except that you will only use one leg to stand and sit down.   Make sure to control the down portion of the movement.  Try three sets of 10-12 repetitions each leg.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at aveigle@hotmail.com SPANISH TRANSLATION: Tiempo para aislar esas piernas y hacer que trabajen un poco más difícil. Beauty Sleep….Why is it important and how to get it.

Put your IPhone on “do not disturb”, unplug your computer and completely eliminate all of the lights in your room because it is time for your unconscious side to take over and your body to become paralyzed. Don’t worry, this is a good thing, this is REM sleep. During the deep stages of REM sleep, the body repairs and regrows tissues, replaces older skin cells, builds bone and muscle, and strengthens the immune system. So what happens when you don’t sleep? I am sure most of you have experienced bags and dark circles under your eyes after pulling an all-nighter. This occurs primarily because your skin did not have enough time to repair during REM sleep and became dehydrated allowing for dark blood vessels and tissue beneath...

HOW TO DECIDE IF YOU NEED A NAIL HARDENER

So, your nails are not how you want them to look?  Your frequent use of artificial nails has left your natural nails looking drained? Or maybe you work with chemicals or lots of water, leaving your nails soft and easily damaged. If this sounds like your personal problem then you’re probably in need of a good nail hardener. But with so many options, which nail hardener really works the best? So you ask, “What is a nail hardener anyway?” Pretty self-explanatory, Nail hardener is a product applied to the fingernails to make them longer and more resistant to breakage, in addition to protecting them from further damage. Or in simple words, nail hardener is a product that helps your nails become harder. There are generally two...

HEALTHY HAIR WEAVE TIPS

Weaves provide us with flexibility and unique styles for our own hair. However, please follow a few helpful healthy weave tips to reduce your risk of hair loss and skin irritations. 1. DON’T be fast and harsh when removing your bonded/glued-in weave. This can result in patches of alopecia or hair loss in areas where hair was pulled out. Use the proper hair glue removal, simply saturate your hair with olive oil to gently remove hair pieces once glue is loosened or get it removed by a careful stylist. 2. DO watch for any scalp or skin reactions from the glue, especially if you wear lace-front wigs which can affect forehead/face. Because the glue is an adhesive that contains harsh chemicals, it can cause possible irritant reactions (ex....
