It's finally starting to feel like winter. In this time of year, dry, and cracked hands are common even painful. This year be prepared and avoid this condition. Too late? No worries, there are some simple natural remedies that can help. Knowledge is power Dry hand causes: excessive exposure to water (especially hot), using harsh soaps or detergents, extreme weather (hot or cold) Prevention: wear gloves when cleaning and when using chemicals or detergents, wear gloves outside in cold weather, avoid prolonged exposure to hot water (like long hot showers!), and moisturize daily. “TIPS FOR APPLYING RELAXERS TO REDUCE HAIR LOSS”

Relaxers, both no-lye and lye chemicals, can result in hair loss if not applied properly or abused. The chemicals permanently straighten hair strands by breaking the disulfide bonds resulting in a more loose curl pattern. Once that portion of the hair strand is straightened, it is should not have more chemical applied again to avoid potential hair loss. The most common side effect of relaxers is over-processing in which previously relaxed hair gets more chemical on the hair strands causing them to become extremely fragile and break. WHATS COOKIN KJ: AVOCADO TOAST

Start the New Year off on the right track. Avocado is one on the healthiest fats you can eat. ENJOY!!  INGREDIENTS: 1 cup whole milk ricotta, (drained) 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil 1 lemon (zest) 1/2 lemon (juiced) 1 avocado(sliced) 4 slices of a Healthy bread (toasted) 2 tomatoes(sliced) 3 tablespoon of sunflower seeds 1 tablespoon capers(rinsed and chopped) Sea salt and black pepper (to taste)  DIRECTIONS: In a bowl mix ricotta, capers, oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper. A GREAT NEW YEAR’S APPETIZER!

Marinated Shrimp, a great New Year’s Appetizer!  This dish requires very little extra effort, just combine all ingredients in a large zip-lock bag, shake and chill. This recipe is not only easy but, festive for New Years, and not mention low-fat. What away to bring in 2016! ENJOY!! INGREDIENTS: 1 1/2 pound large cooked shrimp 2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning 3/4 cup extra -virgin olive oil 1 lemon zest  1 lemon (juiced) 1 Tablespoon cider vinegar 1/2 cup fresh flat -leaf parsley (chopped) 1/2 teaspoon red-pepper flakes 2 large garlic cloves (minced) Sea salt to taste   DIRECTIONS: Put shrimp and all ingredients in plastic bag, seal tightly shake to distribute ingredients.
