Breathing is by far the most effective way to reduce anxiety and relax your self.
When we become anxious or nervous or entirely too stressed out (all the time right?) we naturally begin a domino effect in our systems; our throats close, pinching off our airways and we breath in tiny, shallow, ineffective breathes. This altered type of breathing contributes to a higher heart rate and high blood pressure. Not having enough oxygen to your tissues can increase the amount of work your organs do. Your organs then release toxins into your system from working so hard. These toxins can, in turn, increase the level of anxiety you’re already having AND can age you prematurely over time. See the vicious cycle here?
By increasing how deep and how often you are breathing, you can reverse this domino effect and keep your body more healthy and equipped for the tough stuff!
Natural Awakenings, a holistic paper released nation wide, released an article this month on breathing tips. I was amazed at how many different breathing exercises there are to help relieve stress. The article is called Breath-Taking Wisdom. Click the link to follow SIX ways to breathe your way to a happier and stronger YOU.
