Calcium Substitutes for Milk!

Calcium Substitutes for Milk!

Growing up, everyone always tells you to drink your milk to grow big and strong. Milk is the source many people equate calcium with, but what if milk is just not for you? Milk isn’t for everyone, whether it be a dislike or an inability to consume it, milk does provide nutrients that we need, but it is not our only way to get them. Calcium is an essential nutrient we need for bone health. Here are a few calcium substitutes for milk:

Oranges! Who doesn’t love a good orange? Oranges are filled with vitamin C and calcium all packed in a juicy ball sized fruit.

Dark Leafy Greens! Get you some greens girl! When it comes to calcium people often think of spinach as their nutrients source. Dark Leafy Greens are the way to go! Collard greens, kale and broccoli, for example, are all great sources of calcium to try.

Sweet Potatoes! If you love sweet potatoes getting calcium will be easy for you!  Sweet potatoes aren’t just a delicious ingredient to one of the best casseroles EVER, but they actually provide us with a significant amount of calcium as well as other nutrients.

Almonds! When it comes to a quick on the go snack almonds don’t disappoint! They’re tasty, filling and provide us with a great source of calcium!

When milk isn’t your thing, get what you need from somewhere else! Your health is important but it doesn’t have to be difficult, disgusting, or a bore to get the nutrients you need.
