To kick off BGH Live! we’re chatting with a medical doctor and a naturopathic doctor to get the best of both of worlds to learn how to optimize our gut health. And because a good diet goes hand in hand with a good fitness routine, we had to include a Socanomics dance break!
To start us off right, Dr. Robinson schooled us on what exactly gut health is and why is it so important. To keep it simple: Gut health is thinking about the diseases that affect your gut like diabetes and making better food choices. The best way to do this is by eating foods that are good for gut and avoiding those that aren’t. Ready to know which is which?
AVOID LIST: High cholesterol, high fat and high sugar foods, heavy creams, and fried foods.
We know what you’re thinking: that’s all the good stuff! So Dr. Knights, a naturopathic doctor that specializes in holistic medicine gave a fast food cheat sheet:
- Drop the fries and sub a parfait
- Ask for a whole wheat bun
- Ditch the tortilla wraps
- Start your meals with greens.
- The more colorful your food is, the better.
After a quick commercial break, Women’s Health Magazine Next Fitness Star, Selena Watkins, taught the crowd some sexy Caribbean inspired dance moves with her Socanomics workout. The whole audience got involved for this onstage dance party. Yaassss!
