7 Ways to Get Fit as A Family

A Quick and Easy Family Workout

Walking together as a family isn’t just healthy physically, but can improve the relationships within that family. While walking you can discuss what’s taking place in each others lives, how they feel about certain situations and ultimately become closer. Physically it can help you lower body mass index, cholesterol and blood pressure, improve mood as well as assist with weight loss.

Turn up the stereo and blast some tunes. Show off your new cool moves with a mid-week dance party. Dancing provided families with some cardio for that extra calorie burn off. Dancing is a fun and effective way to sweat and get some exercise,

Having daily household responsibilities can also be used as an exercise mechanism. Simply mowing the lawn, washing the car or vacuuming can burn off those unwanted calories. The little things matter

Sneak in Workouts

Get those steps in even when you don’t do a full workout session. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park near the back of the parking lot and walk the rest of the way. Get it in when you can and let’s make it happen.

Take advantage of commercials

Create funny names for simple exercises like squats, push-ups, and sit-ups, and then do them together till the show comes back on. “Call them princess sit-ups or Bob the Builder muscle builders,” to keep your child intrigued.

Weekly Game Night

Schedule a single day of the week that will be designated as “game night”. Get the family up and moving with fun exercises. For example “Friday football” or “Saturday softball”. These days give the family something to look forward to doing the week, improving mood as well as keeping you in shape.

Yard work

It’s a nice day outside and the kids should not still be sleeping. Get everyone up and go outside and get to work. Together, raking, mowing, and watering should be plenty of exercise for a daily workout.
