5 More Stress relieving tips | National Stress Awareness Day

Hey Sis! I hope your day is going well, and that you’re cultivating a life you love. As you know this is Stress Awareness month, but I bet you didn’t also know that today is Stress Awareness Day as well? Seems like you should really be aware of stress don’t it?  We talked about this before in my last article on the topic (read that one here), so I wont get too deep into it other than its bad and can lead to heart problems as well. But in celebration, of Stress Awareness Day I want to give you 5 more ways to deal with your stress.

Listen to music

Listening to music (no matter what kind) is definitely good for you. Singing your heart out, crying to emotional music, and rapping fun lyrics, all can help reduce your stress. Not only can crying get some of the built up stress out, but also it can take your mind off of things for a while. Not to mention, doing a little dancing is a major way to assist in reducing stress even further.

Take martial arts/ self defense classes

Martial arts, and self defense classes can help you to relieve some stress as well. Exercise in general can help you to relieve stress, but sparring another person can help you feel like your fighting someone (you’re looking at me like you’ve never wanted to fight someone after a stressful day. lol) Even something like boxing can help you sort some of that stress out by punching a bag, and expelling some of that pent up energy.

Breathe deep / meditate

I am a fan of this one personally, sometimes you just need to woosah, count to 10, and take some time to meditate. Meditation does wonders for relieving stress and relaxing you. If you’re new to meditation, I recommend finding a guided meditation app that can help you along during the beginning stages.

Watch comedy

Laughing is the cure for almost any problem. Specifically when it comes to stress it’s a great way to help you relieve tension. As I mentioned in the last article, a lot of the time I hold stress in my forehead, and that can cause tension headaches for me. Laughing helps release that tension for me, and can be helpful to you as well no matter where you hold it.

Aroma therapy

This one is one of my favorites.  In my natural hair routine I like to use lavender oil in my leave in mix. Lavender is great for relieving stress and promoting sleep. Candles and incense are also great ways to get the aroma therapy session started, and especially if combined with a bath, can be a stress relieving monster session.

So those are five more tips to help you relieve stress. Coupled with the first 5 tips in my other article, you should be able to reduce your stress, and focus on building other atomic habits to improve your life.
