3 Healthy Reads to Add to Your Book List

So often, the answers to our most pressing questions, the information we need to truly thrive, or the ideas that we’ve been trying to articulate on a certain topic can found within the pages of a book. We know this when we’re using books for business, for research, or even for self-help but we don’t always think of books as the first place to turn when it comes to our health. And we don’t mean books packed with medical terminology or statistics that we can’t quite understand. We mean books that help us understand what’s going on with our bodies, health, and the things we do can to be better in a way that we can understand. Whether you’re a book loving health enthusiast or just a girl looking for more ways to understand her health, here are a few books, written for and by black women, to help you out.

More like a manual than an book, this read takes you through the different decades of your life providing advice on all aspects of your health to help you thrive during that time. You’ll find information on your diet, tips for fitness, inspiration for your mind, and even discussions on sexual health. FOOD & DIET – 28 Day Plant-Powered Health Reboot

When it comes to health, what you eat plays a major major role. It’s so big that many of the common ailments and issues we face in our health can be improved or diminished by simply changing our diets. We know that doing things like a detox or a food challenge seem intimidating (and lowkey trendy) but there is some real good that can be gained from taking a certain amount of time to commit to better healthy eating habits. From the bloggers of Food Heaven Made Easy this “health reboot” is designed to help you reset your body using a plant powered diet.

BEAUTY & HAIR – Better Than Good Hair: The Curly Girl Guide to Healthy, Gorgeous, Natural Hair

For black women especially, we can’t have a conversation about our health without talking about our hair. Hair plays such an important role in our lives, especially with the explosion of the natural hair movement, and the health of our hair is directly related to our overall health. Nikki Walton, founder of the popular natural hair blog Curly Nikki, provides everything you need to know about helping your natural hair thrive within this book.
