3 Deep Conditioning Methods to Help Your Hair Grow & Glow

Deep conditioning your scalp is key to having luscious, thick and healthy hair. Purchasing deep conditioning treatments from beauty supply brands is great, but there’s nothing like making your own hair regimen from natural products inside of your home.

Here are 3 homemade deep conditioning treatments you can incorporate into your hair regimen.

Banana Hair Mask

Do you have dry and dull hair? If so, the banana mask will help add moisture and shine to your hair. This particular mask has lots of antibiotics and Vitamin C. This hair treatment will also help your hair grow longer, stronger and faster. Check out the recipe below!

  • 1 ripe banana (2 if you have long hair)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil and coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • ½ cup full-fat milk (you can use coconut milk or yogurt)
  • 1 tablespoon of butter (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of lime juice (optional)

Get a ripe banana and place it in a blender or bowl. Then add the honey, coconut oil, olive oil, milk and blend or mix it all together. Make sure there aren’t any chunks until it’s smooth like a paste. Then apply the treatment to your hair.

Coconut Oil and Honey Deep Conditioner

Coconut Oil and Honey

Honey contains active enzymes, vitamins, and minerals that help repair damage locs and hair follicles. Coconut oil unblocks clogged hair follicles and strengthens hair. Also, coconut oil works to remove bad bacteria from your hair follicles.

  • 6 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp honey

Slightly warm one cup of coconut oil by placing in a small pan. Be careful not to burn the oil. Then pour one cup of your honey and the warmed coconut oil in a small bowl. Mix thoroughly and your hair mask is ready! Make sure to wet your hair and scalp and part your hair into two sections. After applying the hair mask on your scalp first and massage for 2-3 minutes first before putting it on your locks. Lastly, leave the hair mask on for about 15 minutes and rinse off thoroughly using warm water. In the final rinse, use cold water to close up the hair follicles. Wrap your hair in a towel and keep your hair away from heat – avoid using a hair dryer if possible. Resource: Jostylin

Avocado Hair Treatment

Avocado Treatments

Is your hair frizzy, dry and unmanageable? Then avocado is what you need! Avocado-based hair remedies are high in vitamin E to help tame frizz. Also, the fatty acids within the avocado will help to control unruly hair. This ingredient makes your scalp smoother and hydrated.

  • 1 avocado
  • Olive oil
  • Mayonnaise (optional)

Make sure you mash the one ripe avocado. Then add a little olive oil and mix it together. Work the treatment throughout your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour. Lastly, rinse the mask out with cold water. Feel free to also conditioner your hair with another hair product (leave in conditioner) to rid the avocado scent.

Taking care of your curls is important, ladies! No matter your hair texture, try and treat yourself to one of these home remedies at least once a week.
