3 Books by Black Women to Read
As lockdowns and restrictions continue a lot of us have much more time to do explore hobbies and activities such as reading, in honor of Black History month we at Black Girl Health have decided to highlight three books by Black Women that we cant wait to read. Whether you’re in a virtual bookclub, reading alone, or with family; here is some new books to add to your must reads.
1. Just As I Am by Cicely Tyson
Two days prior to the departure of Cicely Tyson, she left us with her memoir Just As I Am. This memoir is an in-depth glimpse of the early life and journey to stardom. Just As I am is heartfelt and inspirational tale of growth and self love and discovery.
2. This Is Close To Okay by Leena Cross-Smith
This Is Close To Okay is a story about the power of vulnerability, communication, and relationships. Which we haven’t really had as collective since the pandemic began, This is To Close To Okay follows to lonely strangers that grow closer after a near tragedy experience.
3. Black Girl Call Home by Jasmine Mans
Black Girl, Call Home Which releases on the 9th of March is a love letter to Black women. It’s A Most Anticipated Book of 2021 by Oprah Magazine- Vulture – Essence – Elle – Cosmopolitan – Real Simple – Refinery 29 – She Reads – The Everygirl and Career Contessa. A poem style novel that touches on growth, self image, and the journey to womanhood.
