3 Ways to Boost Body Confidence

The season of sun dresses, bathing suits, and cutoff shorts is upon us. But if there’s one season that has the ability to impact your confidence like no other, it’s the summer. Regardless of whether you have “beach body” goals or you simply want to feel comfortable in your summer outfits, we have three ways to help you be confident in your own skin, no matter what.

Body confidence is something so many women struggle to achieve but very few talk about. We live in the age of filters and photoshop and, oftentimes, we find ourselves slipping into the comparison trap. Nothing hits self confidence like comparing yourself to others. And while, gaining self confidence isn’t a switch you can simply flip on and off as needed, there are things you can do keep the insecurities at bay.

  1. Accept yourself fully. You know those super brave women that aren’t afraid to show their imperfections? Well, the secret to that confidence is acceptance. Whether it’s stretch marks from losing weight or pregnancy, or those stubborn pounds that just won’t go away, learning to accept your body in all its seasons is essential. And remember, acceptance doesn’t mean defeat. It means embracing the present while working toward the future. Loving the you of today and tomorrow.
  2. Don’t compare yourself to others. There’s a popular quote floating around that emphasizes the importance of not basing your worth off of what you see on social media. When it comes to body confidence, this is magnified tenfold both online and in real life. It’s easy to envy that popular Instagram models physique or the girl next you on the treadmill at the gym. But as they say, comparison is the thief of joy. If you’re always comparing yourself to the next woman, you’ll never be able to appreciate your body for what it is.
  3. Celebrate all victories. Far too often, we become so consumed with the big picture that we don’t take the time to celebrate the mini victories along the way. We want to lose 20lbs but, we don’t celebrate the 2lbs we’ve lost so far. Or we want to eat better daily but, we don’t celebrate the healthy meals we’ve made this week. Taking the time to appreciate the journey and how far you’ve come when it comes to your body is one of the best ways to boost your confidence.

Being confident in your own skin isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth. This summer, make it a goal to feel good about yourself in all ways.
